VietNamNet Bridge - Backstreet Boys’ “This is us” tour in Vietnam last month is a financial failure due to unsold and discounted tickets.

According to Nguoi Lao Dong, the 4-men band received around US$150,000 for their performance during two nights in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, quite a small sum for their fame.

Water Buffalo Production has tried to cut down on costs by using many domestic lighting and sound systems instead of imported ones as previously planned.

But as many tickets have not been sold and were reduced in price by 1/tenth at one point, the show is a financial loss, according to VnExpress.

The band performed at the Military Zone 7 stadium on March 24 in Ho Chi Minh City and at My Dinh Stadium on March 26 in Hanoi

Tickets cost from VND500,000 (US$25) to VND2 million for first-row tickets

The band consisting of four members A. J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter and Kevin Richardson, was formed in Orlando, Florida in 1993.

They rose to fame with their debut international album, Backstreet Boys in 1996.

They reached to superstardom with their album Millennium in 1999 and its follow-up album, Black & Blue one year later.

The Backstreet Boys have sold over 130 million records worldwide, making them one of the biggest selling artists of all time.

According to Billboard, they are the first group since Sade to have their first seven albums reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200.
