solutions to save this land.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural
Development of Ca Mau; southern-most Province, apart from the Dat Mui and Khai
Long tourist sites, which are alarmingly being eroded by sea water. There are
34 other points of erosion in the province, including 20 riverside and 14
coastal sites.

Ca Mau province’s Vice Chair, Duong Tien Dung, told Deputy
Minister of Science and Technology, Tran Viet Thanh, in a meeting of April 20,
that Ca Mau looses more than 900 hectares of land annually due to landslide.

The Minister of Science and Technology’s experts made a
field trip to Ca Mau, and suggested to drive two lines of concrete stakes along
riverside and coast sections where landslide occurs. Rocks will be put between
the two lines to make a wall to prevent waves. The proposal has been tested and
it is effectively.

Scientists are working on other solutions to save the Ca Mau
Cape.

Ca Mau Cape is located at Vietnam’s southernmost point, about
120km from Ca Mau city. It takes about 2.5 hours from Ca Mau city to Ca Mau
Cape by high-speed boat.

Ca Mau Cape is the only place on the Vietnamese mainland
where tourists can see the sun rising in the East
Sea and setting in the West Sea.
Ca Mau Cape is often described as an arch. Every year, it is consolidated by Mekong river’s alluvium so as to extend into the sea from
80 to 100 meters, with the area estimated at hundreds of hectares.

Ca Mau Cape is also considered to be a sacred land by the
Vietnamese, all of whom desire to visit once in their lifetime.
