Three bus passengers were killed
and 18 injured, four critically, in a head-on collision in central Ha Tinh
Province early yesterday morning, April 18.

Deputy head of Ky Anh District Police
Office Le Xuan Thuy said the bus was travelling from southern Binh Duong
Province on Highway 1A at 2am when the driver lost control in Ky Anh District,
crashing into a truck travelling in the opposite direction.


Most of the victims were from central Thanh
Hoa and Nghe An provinces. Two died on the spot and a pregnant woman died in
hospital. The rest were taken to various hospitals for treatment.


The two vehicles were extensively damaged
and blocked the road to traffic for several hours.


Police are investigating.


Local authorities visited the injured in Ky
Anh District’s General Hospital and presented VND2 million (US$95) to each
bereaved family and VND1 million ($47) for each injured person.
