Future Shorts brings some top notch international and local film to Hanoi Sound Stuff Festival 2011. Hanoi Sound Stuff Festival aspires to create a unique world of quality electronic and experimental music and art with boundary-pushing sounds, creative performances and collaborations between Vietnamese and International artists to spur an interest among young Vietnamese audiences. The official film selection for April offers a hand-drawn look on romance in the beautiful This is Love, life in a Russian circus in The Poodle Trainer, childbirth in Mother of Many, serene and stylish music videos from PJ Harvey and Liars, plus many more. The regional program includes a struggle to preserve tradition in My Own Cycle, nostalgic desire in Sexy Beach and frenetic homage in Thriller. Also featured will be the Austrian film Koi by tinhoko, music by Stefan Nemeth. Free then to enter Future Shorts area. 15th Hennessy concert in Hanoi The 15th annual Hennessy concert series will return to Hanoi on April 22 with participants from many countries across the globe. Opera extracts of world-renowned composers such as “Nguoi tho cao thanh Seville” (The Barber of Seville) by Rossini, “Manon” by Jules Massenet, “Nhung ngu dan dao Ngoc” (The Pearl Fishers) by Georges Bizet and “Faust” by Charles Gounod will be presented to Vietnamese audience at the Hanoi Opera House. The concert will honour the opera of Italy and France with performances from French soprano Noral Amsellen, Mexican tenor Fernado de la Mora, Chinese bass Hao Jiang Tian and pianist Katherine Chu. The Performing Arts Agency of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Moet Hennessy jointly organizes the Hennessy Concert Series, debuted in 1996. The annual Hennessy concert brings together international artists of classical music to Vietnam, offering the public a chance to enjoy classic works by talented composers from all over the world.
