Hanoi hip-hop troupe Big Toe, last week beat Halley in the final of the Bboy genre, to qualify for the Southeast Asia elimination round of the R-16 Korea World Masters Championships (R16) at Hanoi’s Trinh Hoai Duc Sports House.

With three categories – Popping, Locking (individuals) and Bboy (team), Vietnam won in two categories – Popping (for Baby T) and Bboy (for Big Toe). The Locking prize was presented to K-Lock (Singapore).

It is for the second straight time the troupe has qualified to represent Vietnam in the regional qualifiers, to be held in Malaysia in June. BabyT will compete in the next round in July in South Korea.

Last year it beat a strong competitor from Taiwan, Soul Fresh, to win the Southeast Asian elimination round.

R-16 is an annual international festival held since 2007 by the Korea Tourism Organization to promote the country. “R” stands for “Respect,” and 16 stands for the number of countries invited to the festival.
