Pop star Ho Quynh Huong’s live shows in HCM City today and in Ha Noi next month will feature an eclectic mix of music styles.

Sac Mau Ho Quynh Huong (Colour – Ho Quynh Huong) will see 38 pop, dance and jazz songs, several of her hits, some of her unreleased songs and even spiritual music.

Japanese band Gypsy Queen will accompany the 31-year-old singer at the two shows.

The four-member band, comprising vocalist Shinon, bassist Aki, drummer Masao, and guitarist Macha, has composed a Japanese song that Huong will sing at the shows.

Huong, a native of the northern province of Quang Ninh, graduated from the Army College of Culture and Arts in Ha Noi.

She shot to prominence by winning Viet Nam Television’s Bai Hat Toi Yeu (The Song I Love) contest in 2003.

Besides many other awards, she has also won the Voice of HCM City radio station’s Lan Song Xanh (Blue Wave) Award several times, Nguoi Lao Dong (The Labourer) newspaper’s Mai Vang (Golden Apricot) Award, and the Cong Hien (Contribution) Award for the Singer of the Year given away by The Thao & Van Hoa (Sports & Culture) newspaper.

She took part in the Asian Pop Music Festival in South Korea in 2006 and 2008.

Huong has released 10 solo albums and DVDs since 2003 and is preparing for her latest, Rang Ro Viet Nam (Glorious Viet Nam).

In HCM City, the concert will be held at Lan Anh Music Stage, 291 Cach Mang Thang Tam Street.

The Ha Noi concert on June 4 will be held at the Friendship Cultural Palace, 91 Tran Hung Dao.
