Built at the cost of VND2.3 trillion (nearly $128 million), the Hanoi Museum - Vietnam’s largest museum, doesn’t have a single room to keep visitor belongings; electric wires run zigzags on the wall; some display areas are empty; exhibits are downgraded and it has a few visitors.

The museum was inaugurated last October to celebrate Hanoi’s 1000th anniversary.

With over 30,000 sq.m of floor, construction cost of VND2.3 trillion, the museum is the largest in Vietnam.

The museum is equipped with modern facilities.

However, the museum doesn’t attract visitors.

At 10am, May 19, there were several visitors at the museum.

Two rare visitors on the second floor.

It is surprising that this museum doesn’t have a single room for keeping visitor

belongings. At the door, guards asked visitors to hold their valuable belongings

and put their bags on the table at the corner.

Electric wires ran on the floor of some exhibition rooms.

The projector did not work.

Computers did not work, too.

The fourth floor, the largest floor of the museum, is empty.

It is the same for the first floor.

Meanwhile, some exhibited are at the outdoor exhibition zone.

But, they are not organized to serve visitors.

As a result, some exhibits are downgraded…

… or broken.

The Hanoi Museum and Hoa Binh Park are the two key projects to celebrate

Hanoi’s 1000th anniversary (October 2010). They will be investigated very soon.
