VietNamNet Bridge - VinaPhone will on Friday begin selling a white iPhone 4 cell-phone global version at its stores across Vietnam. The enterprise is pricing the white version on a par with the black iPhone 4 despite high demand for the luxurious cell-phone.

In the first phase, VinaPhone will sell the product to customers registering to use its iTouch 1, 2 and 3 post-paid packages. The telecom provider offers discounts of up to 50% for the packages.

A 16-gigabyte version of Apple’s latest iPhone is around VND13 million while the 32-gigabyte version is over VND15.2 million.

Initially, the enterprise imported 1,000 units of the two versions. The smart phone is only distributed officially in Vietnam via Vinaphone and Viettel.

In related news, Chinese telecommunications equipment and network solutions provider ZTE Corporation has announced a strategy to penetrate Vietnam’s growing smart devices market.

As part of the smart terminal strategy, the company on Wednesday marketed 10 smart devices including tablet PCs, Android 2.2 smart phones and USB data cards.

The tablet Light Tab using Android Froyo 2.2 operating system is a key product which costs VND7.9 million. Light Tab is claimed to be the first tablet PC in the world equipped with Dolby Mobile technology, a sound system designed for mobile products.

The eight smart phone models launched by ZTE are Libra, Skate, Blade, Penguin, Atrail, Smile txt, V821 and V875. Zhang Bin, terminal director of ZTE Vietnam office, said in a statement, “ZTE is specially considering Vietnam a high potential market while executing the smart terminal development strategy.”

ZTE has chosen Vu Hoang Hai Company as its official distributor.
