VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Record Book Center (Vietking) on June 11, made public 11 Vietnam’s records at the closing ceremony of the Quang Binh Province’s Cultural-Tourism Week 2011.

Quang Binh’s Son Doong cave is recognized as the cave with the largest dome in Vietnam. Without this record, Son Doong has been famous worldwide as the world’s largest cave (200m wide, over 150m high, at least 6.5m long).

The cave is part of the Phong Nha-Ke Bang grotto system in Quang Binh, a province in central Vietnam. A local man discovered Son Doong in 1991, and was explored by British explorers in 2009. Since then it has been widely known in the world for its gigantic size and its beauty.

On this occasion, Quang Binh also welcomes ten other records: province with the highest number of caves (over 300 caves in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang grotto system), province with the highest number of underground rivers, province with the longest section of the Ho Chi Minh highway (320km out of the total 2,800km).

Other records include: the outdoor mineral spring with the highest temperature in Vietnam, the longest coast and beach, province with the narrowest width, Sun Spa Resort – the resort with the longest coast and riverbank, Thien Duong – the longest dry cave (60m high, 30-150m wide).

Thien Duong cave also received other records: the longest wood bridge, dry cave with the most special system of stalactites.
