The blue ear disease has affected nearly 1,200 pigs in central Quang Nam Province and southern Bac Lieu Province, while at least 10 cows have come down with the foot-and-mouth disease in the central Quang Ngai province.

According to the Quang Nam Veterinary Bureau, 11 epidemic sites had been identified in six communes of Dien Ban, Que Son and Thang Binh districts up to Tuesday morning, and 448 of more than 1,180 pigs affected with the disease had been destroyed.

In Bac Lieu Province, 16 pigs with the disease’s symptoms in Ward 3 of Bac Lieu Town have been destroyed, ward vice chairman Phan Hai Phuong said.

In Quang Ngai, nine cows in Son Tay District’s Son Tan Commune and 10 in Son Dung Commune with the foot-and-mouth disease were put down, the provincial Veterinary Bureau said.
