A hospital in southern Dong Nai Province Sunday performed a successful operation on a baby born Friday with her liver and intestines outside her body.

Pham Thi T. from Long Khanh Commune, Dong Nai Province was admitted Friday to the Long Khanh general hospital and gave birth to the 2.5-kilogram baby girl on Saturday.

Her liver and intestines had developed abnormally outside her abdominal cavity and there were six fingers on each hand.

The operation team returned the liver and gut back to the baby’s abdomen and amputated the two extra fingers.

It was a rare congenital malformation case, local doctors said.
