The Hue city Central Hospital in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue has successfully operated on two infants with congenital heart disease, its Director Dr. Bui Duc Phu said Sunday.

When Tran Thi Bao Ngan from Thua Thien-Hue was hospitalized last December at the age of two months, and Tran Kim Hoa from Quang Ngai Province in March this year at four months, they had symptoms of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing.

Doctors at the hospital used ultrasound scans and diagnosed the two newborns with congenital heart diseases. Ngan and Hoa have completely recovered and are growing well after their surgeries, Phu said.

He added Hoa and Ngan are the country’s first newborns under the age of six months that have undergone successful surgeries for congenital heart disease.
