No imported cans of popular energy drink Red Bull have been found in Ho Chi Minh City stores following a scare that imported cans may contain cocaine, health officials said Thursday.

HCMC health inspectors Thursday started checking supermarkets and stores in District 10 and only found Red Bull cans produced domestically, which have been guaranteed by the producer Red Bull Vietnam Company to be safe for consumers.

The inspectors from the city Health Department took samples and are waiting for police to test the cans for narcotics.

Taiwanese and Hong Kong authorities said earlier they had found traces of cocaine in samples of “Red Bull Cola,” “Red Bull Sugar-free” and “Red Bull Energy Drink.”

Officials from Red Bull Vietnam said there are no legal import channels of Red Bull into Vietnam.
