Food poisoning hits hundreds of workers

Nearly 350 workers at two Ho Chi Minh City companies were hospitalized for cooking poisoning Thursday.

Thu Duc District Hospital received more than 170 workers from Minh Nghe Co. around 7 p.m. while about 175 workers from Thuong Thang Co. were admitted to the Binh Chanh District Hospital.

The workers had symptoms such as burning sensations, redness of the skin, bellyache and nausea after having a lunch of tuna, pumpkin soup and sautéed beans.

The meal was provided by Thanh Cong Co. in Binh Tan District.

The city’s Department of Health said it was investigating the cause of the poisoning.

More than 250 workers recovered and left the hospital by 8 p.m. the same day.
