Ho Chi Minh City confirmed another seven cases of influenza A (H1N1) Saturday, with Hanoi and the central city of Hue city each confirming three additional cases, the Ministry of Health said.

The findings bring the nationwide total to 97.

The ministry also noted on its website Saturday that the H1N1 infections have increased dramatically during the past week, from between two to three cases to around 10 cases per day.

The disease, which was first detected in Mexico, has so far been reported only in people coming from abroad or locals who have had physical contact with those who have recently traveled abroad.

Influenza A (H1N1) has infected 59,814 people in 112 countries and territories and killed 263 people, according to the latest figures from the World Health Organization.
