The National Institute of Infectious and Tropical Disease in Hanoi will discharge northern Vietnam’s only influenza A (H1N1) patient so far, an official said Sunday.

The 35-year-old patient, known only as P.C.T, was under final evaluations to make sure he was totally free of the H1N1 virus, said institute Director Nguyen Van Kinh

He said the patient, who was admitted to the institute last Tuesday, had no fever over the last five days and was in good health.

T. is the fourteenth of the total 26 influenza A patients in Vietnam to be discharged from medical facilities after fully recovering from the disease.

Nguyen Huy Nga, head of the Bureau for Preventive Health and Environment under the Health Ministry, said Sunday all other H1N1 patients in Vietnam were recovering well.

The Ho Chi Minh City Health Department said Sunday it was “a good sign” that there were no new H1N1 cases reported over the weekend.

On the same day, 11 passengers were quarantined with temperatures above 38 degrees Celsius after arriving at the Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
