The Ministry of Health on Sunday confirmed 11 more cases of influenza A (H1N1), nine in Ho Chi Minh City and two in Hanoi, raising the country’s tally to 226.

The report made at 5 p.m. Sunday, also said 123 of the patients have been discharged from hospitals, while the rest were recovering under quarantine.

Of the total cases, there have been 175 tested positive to the virus in HCMC, 103 of which have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

HCMC health authorities on Sunday quarantined 23 passengers arriving at the city’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport after they had arrived with flu-like symptoms.

HCMC Health Department has instructed the District 7 Hospital to set aside an area to quarantine people with suspected signs of influenza A (H1N1), to cope with the rising demand.

The World Health Organization on Saturday reported 89,921 H1N1 flu cases worldwide in 125 countries and territories, with 382 deaths.

In the Southeast Asia region, there have been 1,709 cases in the Philippines, 1,414 in Thailand and 878 in Singapore.
