Nearly 40 foreign and domestic experts will present scientific talks and perform live surgeries at the 13th International Maxillo Facial Congress which opens today in Ho Chi Minh City, heard a briefing Wednesday.

This year’s two-day congress for 32 cities and provinces in the southern region aims to bring participants up to date with the latest treatments and technologies.

Dr. John Persing, from Yale University in the US, said he hoped he would learn from other experts as well as share his experience with them at the press briefing held in the city.

Dr. Lam Hoai Phuong, chairwoman of the congress organizing committee, said she hoped participants would benefit from the conference so that they could help their patients look after their mouths and teeth.

The congress also includes an exhibition featuring advanced products and equipment of about 15 maxillofacial companies, according to Dr. Ngo Dong Khanh, vice director of the National Hospital of OdontoStomatology in Ho Chi Minh City, which holds the congress.

This year’s event will feature experts from the US, Australia, Colombia, China, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, along with more than 500 health care leaders, government and provincial authorities, medical professionals from health service departments and participating schools.
