The Health Ministry on Friday reported 27 more cases of influenza A (H1N1), raising Vietnam’s total to 208.

Twenty-five of the cases were found in the south with the two others in the north.

Three of the 25 patients detected with the virus in Ho Chi Minh City hadn’t gone abroad but had contacted people with the infection, the municipal Department of Health said.

The department said 61 people were admitted for testing Friday after they had been found with the flu’s symptoms at the city’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Dr. Phan Van Nghiem from the department said health authorities had set up a 30-bed quarantine area at the District 7 Hospital to receive suspected cases from the airport.

Twenty more beds had been added to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases for the H1N1 flu patients’ treatment, Nghiem said.

The ministry said Friday among the country’s 208 infected cases, 114 patients had been cured and allowed to return home after tests showed they had cleared the virus.

The ministry confirmed there have been no outbreaks of the flu in the country. There have been no fatalities and all patients quarantined at medical facilities are recovering.
