Government inspectors found hundreds of tons of expired processed cookings at Vinafood Corporation warehouses in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday.

More than 900 cartons of goods and 17 tons of pork chops and pig’s feet inspected at Vinafood’s Binh Tan District warehouse on Wednesday had been recently re-labeled, with the expiration date changed from April 23, 2009 to April 23, 2010.

Over the two previous days, officials inspecting District 7 and Binh Chanh District warehouses belonging to the company, which imports processed foodstuffs, had also discovered hundreds of tons of pork chops, chicken thighs, sausages, and pig’s feet that had expired or had no production or expiry dates.

Over 380 cartons (each weighing 28.9 kilos) of pork chops were produced on May 14, 2008 for one year’s use while 75.5 tons of chicken thighs had not been labeled with an expiration date.
