Police in Hanoi busted a ring selling fake Viagra on Thursday.

The day before, police arrested a local medical representative, Hoang Thi Hong, carrying a package of 800 fake Viagra tablets on her motorbike.

Hong said she noticed the demand for Viagra in the course of her job. She bought fake tablets at VND5,000 apiece to resell to pharmacies in Hanoi.

She had managed to sell 260 tablets before being caught. Hong has not revealed how much profit she had made so far.

The police also arrested Nguyen Ba Hai, Hong’s supplier, who had 120 fake tablets on him at the time of arrest.

Nearly 1,000 fake Viagra tablets were recovered from the homes of Hong and Hai.

Hai said he bought the medicine from a Chinese man, who has not been identified yet, at VND4,000 a tablet and delivered them to several drug stores in Hanoi.

Police are investigating the case further.
