Party leader emphasises importance of ties with China

VietNamNet Bridge – Relations between the Communist Parties of Vietnam and China will play an important role in implementing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee (CPVCC) Nong Duc Manh made this statement while receiving Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, in Hanoi on Oct. 29.

The two parties should aim to increase exchanges and the sharing of information and experience between Party Central Committee bodies, particularly regarding theoretical work, in order to enhance the leadership roles of the two parties, Manh said.

He stressed that developing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the Parties and States of Vietnam and China will serve to meet the basic interests and common wishes of their people, helping to nurture and expand the traditional and perennial friendship founded by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong, and fostered by subsequent leaders of the two countries.

The Party leader described Zhou’s trip and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s recently official visit to China as milestones in deploying the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China.

In reply, Zhou said China places great importance on developing its cooperation and traditional friendship with Vietnam, noting that his visit aims to realise a number of agreements reached by the Chinese and Vietnamese Party leaders. He went on to say that he plans to attend the forthcoming theoretical seminar organised by the two Parties.

Earlier the same day, Zhou held talks with Truong Tan Sang, Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the CPVCC.

The two sides held in-depth discussions regarding measures to strengthen bilateral relations and implement the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, as well exchanging views on a number of international issues of mutual concern.
