Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung Thursday called on Chinese businesses to take advantage of current favorable conditions to further promote trade and investment ties with Vietnamese partners.

Dung made the request at the Vietnam-China Business Forum in Beijing attended by representatives of more than 400 businesses from China and Vietnam.

The Prime Minister applauded the joint efforts of the China Trade Promotion Committee and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in organizing the forum. He highlighted

Vietnam’s potential for attracting foreign investment, stressing that foreign-owned enterprises form an integral part of Vietnam’s economy.

After the forum, Dung witnessed the signing of a number of deals between businesses from the two countries, including a cooperation agreement between the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and the Chinese Merchants Group and a memorandum of understanding on coal exploration in the Red River Delta between the Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group, the China National Coal Group and Bantry Bay Ventures Asia.

Other agreements included a cooperation agreement between the Vietnam National Shipping Lines and the Chinese Merchants Group, plus an in-principle agreement between PetroVietnam and the XinAo Group to construct a factory in Vietnam’s Thanh Hoa Province.

At the 11th Asia-Europe Business Forum, attended by over 800 businesses from the two continents, Dung said one of the most important measures to help overcome the current global economic difficulties was for public-private partnerships to be strengthened.
