VietNamNet Bridge – Agriculture plays an important role in maintaining socio-political stability and cooking security, said President Nguyen Minh Triet.

He spoke highly of issues discussed at the two meetings, including those related to food security, climate change, product productivity and epidemic prevention, and called on ASEAN and its three dialogue partners to increase cooperation to achieve sustainable development.

He noted that as ASEAN member countries and the three Northeast Asian nations have good natural conditions for agricultural development, especially rice production, they should share experience and invest in new farming techniques so as to increase product productivity, quality and competitiveness and avoid unhealthy competition.

Vietnam will do its best to implement cooperative agreements reached at the meetings to ensure sustainable agricultural production for the benefit of Vietnamese people, as well as people in the region and the rest of the world, said Mr Triet.
