The Russian Federation aims to cooperate with Vietnam in a wide range of fields such as nuclear power, oil and gas, climate change research, environmental protection and human resource development.

Chairman of the Council of the Russian Federation’s Committee for Science and Education Chechenov Khusein Dzhabrailovich made the statement while meeting with National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien in Hanoi Friday.

Dzhabrailovich, who left Vietnam after a four-day visit Sunday, spoke of Russia’s potential, strengths and priority policies in developing science, technology and high-quality human resources.

The Russian lawmaker said his committee will do its utmost to promote exchanges and cooperation between the countries’ legislatures through concrete projects and programs.

For his part, Kien called on the Russian committee to strengthen ties with relevant Vietnamese agencies in order to carry out a high-level agreement designed to build Vietnam and Russia’s strategic partnership through the 21st century.

He applauded Russia’s role and position in the international arena as well as its achievements in economic development, science and education.

The vice chairman said he hoped that Russia would continue to cooperate with and assist Vietnam.

While in Vietnam, Dzhabrailovich and other Russian representatives worked with the NA Committee for Science, Technology and Environment, the NA Committee for Culture, Education, Youth and Children, and a number of other ministries and agencies.
