VietNamNet Bridge – Starting this morning, the 14th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee will consider and ratify the amended ordinance on taxes on exploitation of natural resources.

After the Minister of Finance Vu Van Ninh read the report, Chairman of the National Assembly Committee for Finance and Budget, Phung Quoc Hien, presented the investigation report. The NA Standing Committee will discuss and approve this ordinance.

The Chairman of the Government Office, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, said in the cabinet meeting on November 18, the government agreed with the Finance Ministry’s proposal to raise tax rates of some kinds of metal resources.

The tax rates on metal resources are currently low, while the market prices for metal minerals have soared, resulting in overexploitation of metal resources and along with it, serious environmental pollution and regression of metal resources.

The NA Standing Committee will also assess the results of the 4th session of the National Assembly, which closed last weekend, and discuss the preparations for the fifth session in early 2009.

The committee will also have a look and approve the amended Resolution on import tariffs, the Ordinance on communal police, a Resolution on the change of the names of the Military Court, and the Military Procuracy of the Hanoi Military Zone.
