This year’s annual Consultative Group (CG) Meeting for Vietnam is scheduled to take place in Hanoi from December 4-5, a World Bank representative announced Thursday.

The meeting will focus on sustaining macroscopic economy and growth potential for Vietnam.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung is expected to lead the government delegation that will include senior representatives from key ministries and governmental bodies.

At the 2007 CG Meeting, foreign government donors committed more than US$5.4 billion in aid to Vietnam’s poverty reduction and development programs.

The CG Meeting is a platform for discussion between government and donor agencies on development policies and donor pledges. The first Vietnamese CG Meeting was held in Paris in 1993 and since 1999 it has been held in Vietnam, co-chaired by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the World Bank in Vietnam.

In a separate event on December 1, Vietnam Business Forum will open in Hanoi to discuss the business environment for domestic and foreign enterprises, the world’s financial situation and its impact on Vietnam, as well as challenges and solutions for infrastructure development.
