VietNamNet BridgeA Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV) was opened in Hanoi on Nov. 4.

The meeting aims at preparing for the CLMV Ministers Meeting and the fourth CLMV Summit which is scheduled to take place in Hanoi from Nov. 6-7.

Participants reviewed the CLMV cooperation as from the third SOM which was held in the Philippines and discussed orientation for cooperation between the four countries in the future.

They also agreed on priority fields of cooperation within the CLMV framework and updated the list of CLMV projects that were approved at the SOM CLMV in Hanoi in August 2007.

The meeting set the goals to boost economic integration of CLMV into the Mekong sub-region countries’ cooperation mechanism and promote economic cooperation with ASEAN countries and development partners.

It also reached agreement on the agenda of the CLMV Ministers Meeting and the fourth CLMV Summit as well as the contents of the joint statement of the 4th SOM CLMV.
