VietNamNet Bridge - Newly-accredited Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Dianna Horton pledged to work hard to bolster the relationship between her country and Vietnam , especially in investment and education.

The Canadian diplomat made the pledge at her meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in
Hanoi on Nov. 3 that marks the start of her working term in Vietnam .

Horton said she hoped the two countries will soon sign an agreement on investment encouragement and protection, and proposed that the two sides increase their cooperation in vocational training, trade, development assistance, law and the exchange of high-level visits.

While mentioning education and investment as main areas of bilateral cooperation, PM Dung also pointed to the fields that remain untapped for bilateral cooperation, including culture, tourism, and cooperation in multilateral forums and international organisations.

He lauded the new ambassador’s supposed working schedules with a wide range of government ministries, agencies and localities, saying those activities will help her gain thorough understanding of policies and real situation in Vietnam and design proposals to increase the effectiveness of the two countries’ cooperation
