VietNamNet BridgeParty General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, accompanied by National Assembly deputies from the northern province of Thai Nguyen, met voters in the province’s Dai Tu District and talked to them about the work

Dai Tu needed to generate solutions and models to help farming households which cultivate tea, livestock and forest products take full advantage of local human and land resources and improve their profitability, Mr Manh said.

Voters expressed satisfaction with the legislation produced during the session and applauded the innovation of the question-and-answer sessions which focused on a number of hot-button issues.

While expressing their belief in the sound leadership of the Party and in Government efforts so far to contain inflation, voters also voiced concerns over the economic weaknesses that could affect the country’s stable development.

Thai Nguyen voters pointed to over-exploitation of mineral resources and resulting pollution and road degradation in the province, as well as provincial unemployment, as particular problems. They petitioned their lawmakers to invest more in infrastructure in a province which was once a revolutionary base and for policies to assistant kindergarten teachers.

Manh assured the public that the difficulties beginning in late 2007 and early 2008 were temporary and only a step in the development process. Analysing the difficulties and advantages of the country in the world financial crisis, the Party General Secretary emphasised the country’s targets in 2009 were to continue reigning in inflation, stabilising the economy, maintaining reasonable growth and ensuring social welfare.

Manh urged provincial authorities to ensure the people a happy lunar New Year. The Party leader also praised Dai Tu District’s progress in socio-economic development and its determination to overcome shortcomings.

Manh asked district authorities to attach particular importance to industrial and agricultural development, building a high-quality agricultural base with products competitive domestically and internationally.

Dai Tu needed to generate solutions and models to help farming households which cultivate tea, livestock and forest products take full advantage of local human and land resources and improve their profitability, Manh said, emphasising the role of the district Party committee as well as local authorities.

He said he believed the district would continue to develop as a prosperous one of Thai Nguyen Province and of the nation as a whole.
