Vietnam and Indonesia have reached agreements on annual anticorruption cooperation activities.

A group of representatives from the State Inspectorate, led by Deputy Inspector General Le Tien Hao, and senior officials from Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) agreed to several initiatives during the Vietnamese delegation’s visit to Indonesia which wrapped up Saturday.

Hao told the press in Jakarta that the five-day trip included information exchanges on anti-corruption measures as the KPK is very experienced in the area.

The Indonesian side said it would continue to learn from Vietnam’s experience in integration and training, while sharing with Vietnam its expertise in management and data processing related to anti-corruption.

KPK officials said that Indonesia plans to introduce anti-corruption educational programs.

The first Indonesian visit by a Vietnamese State Inspectorate delegation was made after a KPK delegation visited Vietnam last July, Hao said.

Senior KPK officials on November 12 welcomed the visiting Vietnamese inspectors, saying that the two countries have had many similarities in their struggles for national independence as well as in economic development.

The two sides agreed to hold bilateral meetings in Hanoi in May 2009.
