NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong meets delegates at the 18th meeting of revolutionary fighters who were kept in Hoa Lo prison from 1930-1954.

Former Party General Secretary Do Muoi, Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Ha Noi municipal leaders, and representatives from 14 liaison committees of former political prisoners during the nation’s struggle for independence were also present at the meeting.

Trong told the attendees that he highly valued the municipal authorities and other relevant agencies for the care they have provided to the former revolutionary fighters and for creating favourable conditions for the liaison committees to operate effectively.

He urged the former revolutionary fighters to continue to promote the patriotic tradition and revolutionary spirit, to educate the younger generations, and to contribute to the Party’s revolutionary career as well as to national construction and development.

National liaison committee chairman Ta Quoc Bao said that the liaison committees currently had 235 members who were inmates at Hoa Lo from 1930 to 1945.

In reviewing the work of the 2005-08 term and planning for the 2009-12 term, the committee would continue encouraging its members to collect documents in preparation for publication of a memoir of former Hoa Lo political prisoners to mark the upcoming 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Ha Noi.
