VietNamNet Bridge – The Director of the HCM City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre, Truong Trong Nghia, has resigned to open his own law office.

The HCM City People’s Committee approved Nghia’s resignation and appointed the Director of the Consulting Centre for Agricultural Economic Structure Shift, Tu Minh Thien, to replace Nghia.

Nghia, a Master of Law, said he has worked for the government for 12 years. Since 2004, according to a new regulation, government officials are not allowed to do extra jobs and work as guest lecturers, but Nghia loves the job of being a lawyer and teaching, so he resigned.

He said he would open a law office in District 10 and will work as a lawyer and a lecturer at some universities in HCM City.

However, Nghia will still be a member of the HCM City People’s Council and the Vice Chairman of the council’s Economics and Budget Division.

Three years ago, the Deputy Director of the HCM City Department of Planning and Investment, Luong Van Ly, resigned to open his own company. After that, many officials resigned, causing a wave of resignation at HCM City’s government bodies.
