| VietNamNet Bridge - The legislatures of Vietnam and China should increase exchanges and collaborate in information and experience sharing, said Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.
Receiving Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the China National People’s Congress (NPC) Chen Zhili in Hanoi on Dec. 8, General Secretary Manh affirmed that the Vietnamese State, Party and people always attach importance to the friendship and comprehensive cooperation with China. The two sides should work to increase the awareness of their people, especially the youth, of the Vietnam-China traditional friendship which was founded by late President Ho Chi Minh and President Mao Zedong and cherished by many following generations. NPC Vice Chairwoman Chen Zhili spoke highly of the development of the Vietnam-China relationship, which is reflected in the two countries’ leaders on developing a comprehensive strategic partnership. The NPC delegation’s current visit is a step forward in realising the partnership, she stressed. In a separate meeting with the Chinese official the same day, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong called for more areas of law making, exchanges and experience sharing between the two legislatures in the supervision and decision making, in order to fulfill their role as the people’s representatives. The relationship with China is of special importance to Vietnam when the country is implementing an independent, self-control and multilateral and diversified external relations policy, the NA Chairman affirmed. Vietnam will do its best to intensify the relations between the two Parties and two States, including the two legislative bodies, he stressed. The NA Chairman took the occasion to convey an invitation to Chairman of NPC’s Standing Committee Wu Bangguo to visit Vietnam soon. The Chinese law maker said she was left with good impression of Vietnam ’s dynamic development, demonstrated by a fairly high growth rate despite the negative changes in the world’s economy. China is willing to join hand with Vietnam to cope with the world’s financial crisis, she stressed. Chen also expressed her pleasure at the ever growth of the Vietnam-China traditional cooperation and friendship, saying she believed in the further development of the bilateral ties in the future. Earlier the same day, Vice NA Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong and her counterpart, Chen Zhili, held talks, in which they agreed to enhance ties between the two legislative bodies, contributing to developing the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries. Vice NA Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong reiterated that Vietnam gives top priority to developing relations with neighbouring countries and traditional friends, including China . Vietnam consistently follows an independence and self-control external relations policy with multilateral and diversified international relationship, she said. Vietnam is willing to be a friend and reliable partner of other countries in the international community, with a view to sustainable relations based on the principles of mutual respect for independence, sovereignty and territory integrity, non-interference in each other’s internal affairs and on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, she added. The visiting Chinese NPC delegation had paid a two-day visit to Ho Chi Minh City . In her working session with the municipal People’s Council Chairwoman Pham Phuong Thao, Vice Chairwoman Chen Zhili showed her interests in HCM City ’s experiences in the implementation of policies relating to social security, social insurance, health care, education universalisation and budget allocation. Chairwoman Thao of the HCM People’s Council said HCM City wants to establish and expand economic cooperation with China , as well as increase exchanges and experience sharing in education, culture, health care and environment protection. The Chinese NPC delegation is in Vietnam from Dec. 5-10.
