The Republic of Korea’s government, through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has committed to helping Vietnam improve its training system for judges.

The Supreme People’s Court and KOICA Friday signed an agreement for a project to improve the Vietnam Judges’ Training School.

The project will get funding of US$3 million from the Korean Government.

KOICA will build a 4,500-squaremeter school, equip it with a modern IT classroom and dispatch Korean experts to help draw up a curriculum for the training program.

KOICA will also invite Vietnamese judges to participate in training courses in the RoK.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, KOICA representative in Vietnam, Lee Wook-heon, expressed belief that the project’s success would boost bilateral judicial cooperation and exchanges between judges of the two countries.

It would also help strengthen the Vietnamese court system and accelerate judicial reform in the country, he said.
