A government leader Monday asked Luxembourg to help Vietnam boost relations with the European Union (EU) and lobby for the removal of anti-dumping tariffs on Vietnamese shoes.

During talks with his Luxembourger counterpart, Jean Asselborn, in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem asked for assistance negotiating the Vietnam-EU Partnership Cooperation Agreement.

Khiem hailed Luxembourg’s position as the fourth-largest EU investor in Vietnam, with 15 projects worth more than US$800 million.

Asselborn said his government would continue to support Vietnam’s efforts to improve relations with the EU and create favorable conditions for local businesses to stimulate trade and investment in Vietnam.
