Receiving the Chinese Minister of Public Security Meng Jianzhu in Hanoi on Dec. 5, the Party leader urged the two ministries to work closer with one another to concretise previously-signed agreements and to further their exchanges of information, particularly in the context of the world’s current state of unpredictability.

He also affirmed that the Vietnamese State, Party and people attach importance to the development of their traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with China.

Vietnam will do its utmost to enhance the friendly neighbourliness between the two countries, he added.

The Party leader spoke highly of the visit to Vietnam by the Chinese public security ministry delegation, saying that the visit is a step forward in further actualising the Vietnam-China comprehensive cooperative partnership.

The Chinese Minister informed his host of the outcomes of a working session attended the two ministries, during which they discussed measures to boost information-sharing in the fight against trans-national crimes and national security protection.

Vietnam, China police forces enhance crime prevention links

The first public security ministerial meeting between Vietnam and China on cooperation in crime prevention took place in Hanoi on Dec. 5.

In his opening speech, Vietnamese Minister of Public Security, General Le Hong Anh suggested that the two police forces tighten their links to better contribute to developing their respective countries and ensuring peaceful lives for the citizens of both countries.

The two countries’ common issues regarding crime prevention should be dealt with in accordance with cooperative agreements and letters of intent approved by the two Governments and international conventions that Vietnam and China have acceded to, the Vietnamese minister affirmed.

The meeting, co-chaired by General Le Hong Anh, and his Chinese counterpart, Meng Jianzhu, reviewed bilateral ties regarding policing and discussed measures to deal with emerging issues in the fight against crime in order to ensure the security of each country as well as their common borders.

To strengthen future cooperation, the two ministries will propose that the two Governments sign a bilateral agreement on extradition and the prevention of human trafficking to create a legal framework for the two sides to deal with trans-national crime in a more effective manner.

The two partners will also increase the frequency of regular meetings across all levels and work to develop information-sharing and cultural and sport exchanges, particularly in border areas.
