Vietnam-RoK ties boast cultural depth

| VietNamNet Bridge – Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) boasts a cultural depth, and that this is a firm foundation for the further development of ties between the two nations.
Trong expressed his pleasure at the development of relations between the two countries in areas such as politics, the economy, culture, education and tourism. He said that the two nations have numerous links and pointed to the example of the Ly family from Vietnam , who arrived in the Rok to start a new life centuries ago. These days, about 25,000 Vietnamese wives and 45,000 workers reside in the RoK, and hordes of Korean businessmen and tourists visit Vietnam every year. He recalled the lasting impression that the RoK’s achievements in its national construction and development made on him during his visit to the RoK in March this year. Trong praised Lee’s active contributions to boosting the friendship and cooperation between the two countries during his tenure as Speaker of the National Assembly of Korea for two terms of office. Lee expressed his pleasure at the rapid and comprehensive development experienced by Vietnam during recent years and expressed his belief that Vietnam would continue to record new victories in the future, under the leadership of the Party and State. He thanked Vietnam for its support of the peace process in the Korean peninsular and spoke highly of the contributions of the Vietnamese community in the RoK to the country’s socio-economic development.
