VietNamNet Bridge - Vietnam Communist Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh has told the staff of the Party Central Committee Office that they would face a crucial year.

“The information must be accurate and the documents of the highest quality,” he said while reviewing the office’s work of last year and previewing its tasks for 2009 in Ha Noi yesterday.

The leader asked the office to focus on providing advice to the Central Committee as well as the Politburo and the Secretariat on their tasks for the remainder of the 10th tenure.

He also asked the staff to help the country overcome the many difficulties and challenges expected this year as well as meeting the objectives set at the 10th National Party Congress by ensuring that their forecasts and advice to the Politburo and Secretariat were effective.

The difficulties and challenges of 2009 were likely to be much more numerous than those of 2008, he said.

The goals set by the Central Committee for the year were to curb any damage from the economic downturn; prevent inflation; stabilise the macro economy and maintain reasonable growth while ensuring social security.

The General Secretary praised the office highly.

It served as the focus point for various agencies, experts, researchers and analysts to work together to develop major policies and guidelines for the country’s development, particularly in economics, society and internal affairs, he said.

But he asked that it further enhance its work as an agency that collects, processes and analyses information from various sources to provide Vietnam’s leaders with a clear picture of the nation.

He urged the office’s staff to maintain their political and ideological development and work more diligently and creatively to accomplish all the tasks assigned to them.

Central Committee Office Director General Ngo Van Du provided a comprehensive review of lessons learned in 2008 and pledged the office would do its best to fulfil the tasks for this year more creatively and effectively.
