Lookatvietnam - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan highlighted Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements in 2008, especially in controlling inflation, at the on-going 39th World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The Deputy PM is leading a Vietnamese delegation to attend WEF, where more than 2,500 delegates discuss the current economic crisis and other global challenges.

In his speeches and discussions at the forum, the Deputy PM also affirmed the country’s determination in fulfilling WTO’s commitments, administrative reforms and anti-corruption to create a favourable and transparent investment environment.

Vietnam pays special attention to human resource training, considering it a key factor to increase the national competitive edge in the integration process, he stressed.

The deputy PM also shared Vietnam ’s experiences in vocational training and supporting unemployed people with other participants, affirming Vietnam ’s willingness to boost international cooperation in education.

In a meeting with WEF Managing Director Borge Brende, Deputy PM Nhan asserted that Vietnam is able and willing to host the East Asia WEF in 2010.

Participants to the forum considered Vietnam , the Southeast Asian country that posted a growth rate of 6 percent and attracted 60 billion USD in FDI in 2008, as one of few attractive investment destinations.

Leaders of several giant international groups committed continued investment in Vietnam despite the global economic crisis.

The Deputy PM is heading for Switzerland and Finland.
