PM: Vietnam does utmost to bolster ties with Australia

VietNamNet BridgeThe Vietnamese Government and people will do their utmost to bolster ties with Australia in all fields, particularly the economy, trade, investment, education and training, for the mutual benefit of both sides, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The PM made this statement while receiving Richard Woolcotd, Special Envoy of the Australian Prime Minister, in Hanoi on Jan. 15.

PM Dung said that bilateral trade turnover has experienced rapid development recently, with a year-on-year increase of 26 percent in 2008. He lauded Australia’s policy to expand its cooperation with other countries and revealed that Vietnam will seriously consider Australia’s proposal to build an Asia-Pacific community.

He affirmed that Vietnam’s stance is to actively work towards regional and global integration, supporting and participating in those organisations that work for ensure peace and stability in the region and world.

Woolcotd said that the Australian PM places great value on cooperation with ASEAN countries, particularly Vietnam, and hopes to make a visit to the latter in the near future.
