HCM City cherishes famous wartime base

Following an incense ceremony to commemorate the martyrs who died in the district fighting the Americans, Huynh Thi Nhan, deputy secretary of the city Party Committee, recalled the fighting tradition of An Phu Dong residents.

Lying along the Saigon River, the base played a vital role in the war.

Also attending the meeting were Party Committee, people’s council, people’s committee and Fatherland Front committee members of An Phu Dong, Thanh Loc and Thanh Xuan Wards, former prime minister Phan Van Khai, city Fatherland Front Committee chairman Tran Thanh Long, Le Hoang Quan, chairman of the People’s Committee, and heroic mothers and veterans.
