Prime Minister has emphasised that the Vietnamese Government and people will do their utmost to further boost ties with Australia in all fields.

Prime Minister Dung made the statement while receiving Richard Woolcott, the visiting Special Envoy of the Australian Prime Minister.

The Government leader affirmed that the VietnamAustralia co-operation was experiencing comprehensive development in all fields, especially economics. The two-way trade turnover had seen fast increases with a 26% rise in 2008 comparing to 2007.

He highly appreciated Australia’s policy of expanding co-operation with other countries and said he would consider Australia’s proposal about ‘building an Asia-Pacific community’.

Special Envoy R. Woolcott expressed his aspiration that the bilateral relations would get ever closer in the common interests of respective people.

He said that the Australian Prime Minister had always attached importance to co-operation with the ASEAN countries, particularly with Vietnam and hoped to make a visit to Vietnam in the near future.
