Mr. Tran Van Truyen.

The Chief Government Inspector, Tran Van Truyen, on February 11 said that the Government Inspectorate would begin to focus on big equitised groups.

Among them are the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin), the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), the Vietnam Textile-Garments Group (Vinatex), the Vietnam Tourism Joint Stock Company, and the Vietnam Insurance Corporation (Bao Viet).

“The inspection is conducted not only when a group commits wrong-doings but to check, rate and promote the sustainable development of groups,” Truyen said.

The chief inspector said last year the agency probed 6-7 equitised corporations. The equitisation process in some corporations is slow and some have committed mistakes during asset evaluating procedures and suffered losses from investments since equitisation. The agency is compiling a report about this to submit to the prime minister.

This year the Government Inspectorate plans to inspect the operations of six ministries and eight provinces and amend the Inspection Law, etc.
