Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito said he hopes work done by Japanese citizens, organizations and enterprises will contribute to further development of HCMC, as well as bilateral ties between the countries.

In a meeting with the municipal People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan in the city Friday, Naruhito also hoped that the work will be stepped up during Mekong-Japan Exchange Year.

The Japanese prince also expressed his pleasure at the presence of more than 3,000 Japanese citizens and the efficient activities of 450 Japanese-owned enterprises in the city. He also praised the work of projects being implemented with Japanese funding.

Quan said the Japanese prince’s visit to Vietnam showed that the relationship between the two countries continues to grow.

Quan also stressed the importance of cooperative ties between different localities of two countries, alluding in particular to the multifaceted relationship between HCMC and the cities of Osaka, Yokohama and Hiogo in trade promotion, tourism and urban management.

Earlier Friday, Naruhito visited the Japanese school in District 7 and the Vietnam-Japan Human Resources Cooperation Center in Binh Thanh District.
