LookAtVietnam – Former Archbishop of Ha Noi Cardinal Paul Joseph Pham Dinh Tung passed away on Sunday aged 90.

Former Archbishop of Ha Noi Cardinal Paul Joseph Pham Dinh Tung (1919-2009).

Cardinal Tung, who is a former president of the Viet Nam Episcopal Council and former director of the Ha Noi Seminary, was born in 1919 in Yen Mo District, northern Ninh Binh Province.

He was ordained in June 1949, appointed Archbishop of Ha Noi in April 1994 and elevated to Cardinal in November 1994.

A delegation of the Ha Noi Party and People’s Committees, led by Vice Mayor Dao Van Binh, paid homage to the late Cardinal at the church yesterday afternoon.

Ha Noi Party Committee Secretary Pham Quang Nghi sent a floral wreath to the memorial service.

Delegations of the municipal Fatherland Front and Committee for Religious Affairs also paid tribute to Cardinal Tung.
