A cabinet meeting.

VietNamNet Bridge Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked government agencies to hold national meetings in the form of video conference from now on.

In special cases, they have to ask for the prime minister’s permission to organise a national conference.

The PM’s move shows the government’s effort to further renovate the working style of government agencies as well as speed up administrative reforms by applying information technology.

The PM approved the current plan on IT application in government agencies in 2008.

According to this plan, some meetings between the PM and some ministries and provinces will be organised in the form of video conferencing.

Last year, the Government Office organised around 400 meetings of the government, the PM and Deputy PMs, 13 periodic cabinet meetings, and others. Many of them were online meetings.

In the early days of 2009, the Government Office approved a project to upgrade the IT system at the office to better serve the PM and Deputy PMs.

As of February 2009, chiefs of all government agencies are encouraged by the PM to take part in periodic cabinet meetings.
