While visiting it yesterday on the occasion of the lunar New Year festival, Dung applauded the group for its achievements made over the past few years.

He stressed that the group should tap its strength and overcome shortcomings to develop strongly, fulfilling tasks assigned by the State, Party, Army and people.

Dung urged the armed forces in general and the Cuu Long group of divisions in particular to pay attention to the world and regional economic situation, which is expected to remain complicated in 2009.

The Government leader asked the group to keep studying and following the late President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples, ensuring living conditions for its soldiers in terms of both material and spiritual life and strengthening the relationship with local people.

He expressed his belief that with its traditional development over the past 35 years, the Cuu Long group of divisions would continue to fulfil its tasks in the coming time to meet the Party, State and people’s trust.

Tet wishes

Prime Minister Dung visited the southern province of Ben Tre on Thursday, the fourth day of the lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

The Government leader congratulated local people on the inauguration of the long-expected Rach Mieu Bridge that links Ben Tre and its neighboring province of Tien Giang.

He also expressed his wish that Ben Tre Province would record greater socio-economic achievements in the future.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Huynh Van Be promised to transform Ben Tre into one of the most dynamic and prosperous provinces in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta region.
