Vietnam considers the United Arab Emirates (UAE) an important partner in the Gulf region.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement during talks with Vice President and Prime Minister of the Emirates, Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, in Dubai Monday.

“Vietnam applauds the UAE’s initiatives to expand cooperation,” Dung said.

The two leaders discussed measures to further the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE in the years to come.

They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The two PMs pledged to urge their relevant ministries and sectors to quickly hold negotiations and reach agreements regarding visa exemptions for diplomatic and official passport holders as well as cooperation in tourism, education and scientific research.

The UAE Prime Minister informed his guest that his government would send a deputy prime minister-led delegation to Vietnam to transform the agreements reached during the visit into actions.

Following the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of an agreement on investment promotion and protection, an agreement on double taxation avoidance, an agreement on the establishment of an intergovernmental committee, an accord on labor cooperation and a cooperation deal between the two foreign ministries.
