LookAtVietnam – Vietnam wants to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Argentina, especially in trade, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung while receiving the outgoing Argentina ambassador to Vietnam, Tomas Ferrari, in Hanoi on February 26.

The PM acknowledged Mr Ferrari’s significant contributions to the development of the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries during his 9-year working terms in Vietnam.

He expressed pleasure at the rapid increase in two-way trade in recent times, but said bilateral economic and trade ties have not yet matched their potential. He proposed that the Vietnam-Argentina Intergovernmental Committee meet in the near future to discuss measures to increase cooperation, exchanges and official development assistance to Vietnam.

The PM said he hoped that the outgoing ambassador would make further contributions to strengthening Vietnam-Argentina ties, whatever the position he may hold in the future.

For his part, Mr Ferrari said he was happy to be awarded the Friendship Order by the Vietnam Foreign Ministry. He pledged to spare no efforts to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

He said that the Argentinean President expects to meet with PM Dung during the latter’s upcoming visit to the Latin American nation.
